The mission of the Eriez Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning
environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills,
which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
At Eriez, our recipe for fulfilling that mission is lots of fun and support, a good measure of
education and encouragement, all seasoned to taste with challenge and competition. We have a core of
experienced and caring members who help new speakers overcome fear and develop good speaking habits.
Whether you are looking for a place to learn public speaking, interpersonal-communication, leadership
or self-confidence, Eriez has a place, a program and people who care to help you.
Meetings are at Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 29th and Elmwood Avenue, Erie, PA from 7:00-8:30 pm on
the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible for membership in
Eriez Toastmasters. Previous speaking experience is not required. We welcome anyone who wants to either
overcome fear of public speaking or who wants to improve their existing speaking skills.
What is a meeting like? There are three essential pieces to a Toastmaster meeting. Table Topics
offers members and guests the opportunity to speak for one to two minutes on a subject without time to prepare.
After Table Topics, members work toward basic and advanced certifications by presenting
Prepared Speeches. Each of the Prepared Speeches is then given an Evaluation --
pointing out both the strengths and the weakness of the speeches so that members can improve
their skills.
